Photograph of J.H. Sharer and Son Undertakers, Alliance, Ohio. Today, the firm is known as the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. It is believed that these vehicles were built by Riddle. Riddle started building horse-drawn funeral vehicles in Ravenna, Ohio and was originally known as Merts and Riddle Coach Company. Later, they were known as Riddle Coach and Hearse Company. Recently, Grand Rapids based Zondervan Publishing Company, used one of our hearses for a very special project. They heaped-up some of life's prized possessions on the roof, to help introduce a new book by John Ortberg, entitled "When The Game Is Over, It All Goes Back In The Box." The book tells of life lessons taught by the author's Grandmother, while playing board games.
